Pre-Finished Plank Style Countertops
Plank style, or face grain, countertops are made by securing carefully selected, premium hardwood boards side by side, so that the face (or widest part) of the board shows. This offers a clean, smooth look, with every board running the length of the countertop. Plank style countertops are known for their traditional, uniform appearance with subtle, interesting grain variations displayed.

Two Finish Choices
Once you have chosen your material from our extensive list of hardwoods, you will be able to further customize your kitchen upgrade with your selection of finish. The commercial grade conversion finish and the food grade mineral oil finish each have their own benefits to consider.

Conversion Finish
Our highly experienced woodworkers apply three coats of a 45 sheen commercial grade conversion varnish to your selected hardwood, then finish it with a catalyzer that strengthens it to a hard, durable surface. Not recommended for use as a food prep surface.

Food Grade Mineral Oil
Any plank style countertop whose intended use is food preparation should include a food grade mineral oil finish. This natural-style finish allows the hardwood surface to be safely used for slicing, chopping, and other food preparation and serving needs. While this is not a permanent finish, the occasional reapplication of food grade mineral oil is simple and inexpensive. Finishing instructions will be included with your final piece.
